Rainbow Ice cream
By Gayatri Devulapalli
One day Nancy had a fancy for ice cream on a fine summer day. She had dreamt in her sleep that she was eating a cool, colourful, creamy ice cream cone on a hot summer day.
She ran to her mum and asked her, “Mamma, Mamma, can you make ice cream for me today?”
Mamma smiled and told Nancy, “Sure, Nancy, I will make a cool, colourful, creamy ice cream for you today.”
Nancy was thrilled!
“Nancy, your ice cream is ready,” Mamma told Nancy.
“Oh Mamma, it is so cool, creamy ice cream. It has only one colour, Violet. Can you add one more Mamma? “Nancy asked her mom.
“Sure, Nancy, it will make this ice cream colourful. Ok?” Mamma replied.
After some time …..
“Nancy, your ice cream is ready,” Mamma called Nancy again.
“Oh Mamma, it is so cool, creamy ice cream. It has two colours now, Violet and Indigo. Can you please add one more Mamma?” Nancy asked her mom.
“Sure, Nancy, it will make this ice cream more colourful. Ok?” Mamma replied.
“Nancy, your ice cream is ready,” Mamma called to Nancy again.
“Oh Mamma, it is so cool, creamy ice cream. It has three colours now, Violet and Indigo and Blue. Can you please add one more Mamma?” Nancy asked her mom.
“Sure, Nancy, it will make this ice cream more colourful. Ok?”
“Nancy, your ice cream is ready,” Mamma called to Nancy again.
“Oh Mamma, it is so cool, creamy ice cream. It has four colours now, Violet, Indigo, Blue and Green.

It has five colours Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green and Yellow.
It has six colours now, Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange. Can you please add one more Mamma?” Nancy asked her mom.
“Sure, Nancy, it will make this ice cream more colourful. Ok?”
“Nancy, your ice cream is ready,” Mamma called to Nancy again.
“Oh Mamma, it is so cool, colourful and creamy ice cream. It has seven colours Violet, Indigo, Blue, Green, Yellow, Orange and Red. Oh, Mamma, it looks like a Rainbow,” Nancy told her mom.
“I am glad you like it, Nancy. Yes, it is indeed a rainbow ice-cream. Have you seen a rainbow? It has seven colours just like your ice-cream,” Mamma replied with a smile.

Nancy squealed with joy and enjoyed her rainbow ice-cream!!

My 4 year old daughter enjoyed this story so much! She even made me go out and buy her a Rainbow Ice cream! Of course, I had to custom make it, but she was so happy it was worth the price!
it a coooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooool story
A good story for children learning to read because of the repetition. Children also like a story where they can anticipate the next part and feel clever when it is what they expected. It has another good point, that it teaches the colours of the rainbow.
This Rainbow story is clever . Could this be linked to the NHS rainbow that we are seeing all the time?
