Luke (Lucjan) Lawnicki

Luke is a graphic artist and painter (born in 1966 in Poland).

His artistic expression started at the early age of 14, drawing caricatures of teachers and colleagues. He graduated from the Art Faculty at the University of Education in Krakow, with MA diploma in graphic art “linocut”, under world known linocut artist Jerzy Jedrysiak.

After growing up in harsh and “black and white” communist reality Luke discovered his fascination in creating colorful stories for children. During the following years he was working as a graphic designer and children’s book illustrator.

Luke arrived to Ireland in 2001. Living away from family and friends he returned to painting 10 years ago.

Now residing in Dungarvan, Luke exhibits with selected galleries both nationally and internationally.

His artworks are held in private collections in Poland, Ireland, USA, Dubai..

Luke’s paintings can be described as imaginative realism, and stays under influence of kid’s imaginary and graphic background. For this he finds acrylic and pencil an ideal media.
