Carmel Gleeson was born in Co Mayo, lived her early life in Dublin and is the eldest of seven children.
She worked in a bank in Dublin and London.
She has been living in Limerick for the past twenty-five years, with her husband Martin and has four sons and daughter, who are now young adults.
Carmel is am a member of Alliance Francaise in Limerick, where she attends a class once a week.
Her other pastimes include Bridge which she plays twice a week, reading, travelling and dancing.
