My name is Ana Betancourt. I was born in Havana, Cuba and emigrated to the United States with my family when I was around 14 years old.

My passions have always been to write, read and travel. I graduated from Florida International University in 2005 with a Bachelor degree in Spanish Literature. After graduation, I started to work mainly as a substitute teacher for the primary years. And soon after that, I realized that I had a love and a vocation for teaching, so I decided to move to Houston to complete a certification in Primary Bilingual Teaching (Spanish and English).

I was a Primary Bilingual Teacher for seven years until in September of 2012 my husband received an offer job to move to Christchurch, New Zealand and here I am since then. I am now an expatriate wife and life has changed a little, but all for the best. I also became a freelance journalist working towards this career and enjoying some of my free time writing for my personal blog and also short stories for children.
